Answers for Owners, GCs, and Procurement Teams
Got questions about our union status, scope, or project process? We’ve answered the most common inquiries below. Don’t see what you’re looking for? Reach out and we’ll get back to you directly.
What types of commercial electrical construction projects do you specialize in?
We focus exclusively on commercial, industrial, and utility work — no residential. Our experience includes public works, utility coordination, education facilities, warehouses and logistics, infrastructure, substations, and ground-up commercial construction. We are licensed and equipped for both new builds and complex upgrades, including ongoing service contracts.
Are you a union electrical contractor?
Yes. Padilla Electric Builders is proudly signatory with IBEW Locals 11, 47, 413, and 441. Our electricians are union-trained, Cal/OSHA-certified, and qualified for high-compliance commercial and utility projects across Southern California.
Do you also provide general contracting services?
Yes. In addition to our C-10 Electrical license, we hold a Class B General Building license (CSLB #723149), which allows us to manage and self-perform scopes beyond electrical — including carpentry, concrete, trenching, civil work, and overall trade coordination. This dual licensing gives us the flexibility to act as both a subcontractor and a prime contractor, depending on the project.
What geographic areas do you serve?
We serve Southern California, including Los Angeles County, Ventura County, Orange County, and Central California, depending on project scope. For utility and infrastructure work, we are often called on across broader regions. If you’re unsure whether your location is within range, contact us directly and we’ll confirm.
What types of commercial clients do you work with?
We work with general contractors, developers, public agencies, utilities, water districts, and institutional clients. Our track record includes repeat contracts with Southern California Gas Company, Siemens Energy, BNSF Railway, Petrell Electric, and multiple water districts. We are equipped to handle large scopes, master contracts, and strict compliance requirements.
How do I request a quote or submit a bid package?
Use our contact page to send us a message or give us a call. We’ll review your project specifications and get back to you quickly with next steps.
Do you offer pre-construction services or design-build?
Yes. We provide pre-construction consulting, scope review, value engineering, and design-build electrical services. Our team can assist with budgeting, code compliance, constructability, and energy audits aligned with LEED. Getting us involved early helps reduce change orders and control costs.
Are you licensed, bonded, and insured for industrial projects?
Yes. We are fully licensed as both a C-10 Electrical Contractor and a Class B General Building Contractor (CSLB #723149). We carry bonding and insurance appropriate for large-scale industrial projects. Documentation is available upon request.
What safety protocols do your crews follow?
As a union-signatory contractor, our crews are OSHA- and Cal/OSHA-certified and held to rigorous safety standards. Training includes underground safety, confined space, shoring, fall protection, forklift, hot work, gas detection, H2s, and traffic control. We follow NEC, NFPA 70, and project-specific safety requirements on every site. WCIRB EMR: 0.92. Prequalified with ISNetworld, Veriforce, Ariba, DOT, and Pipeline Testing.
Can you handle fast-track or large-scale scopes?
Yes. Our union affiliations allow us to scale labor as needed, and our leadership team is experienced in coordinating fast-paced, multi-phase scopes. We routinely work under strict deadlines and high compliance pressure, with a proven record of delivering on schedule.
Do you work directly with end clients or only through GCs?
Both. We frequently serve as a subcontractor to general contractors, but we also work directly with developers, municipalities, utilities, and facility owners through our General B license. This flexibility makes us a reliable partner whether you need a prime contractor or a specialty subcontractor.
